The Tour du Mont Blanc is the long-distance hike that every other long-distance hike gets compared to. It circles the Mont Blanc massif through France, Italy and Switzerland, covering roughly 164 kilometres and more than 10,000 metres of ascent over eleven days.
Nothing on the route is technical. There is no scrambling, no rope, no exposure that a confident walker cannot handle. What the trail asks for instead is endurance: most days involve a climb of 700 to 1,300 metres, and you do it again the next morning.
This is our full-circuit trip, and it is the one we recommend if you want the whole thing. You start and finish in Les Houches, you cross every border on foot, and you walk into the same village you left eleven days earlier having gone all the way around the mountain.
